Biography of Ms. Mona Azer

 

Mona joined AES as the PMO lead in August of 2014, after having worked with the AES team for 4 years as an independent consultant in the capacity of Program and Project Management for a number of key IT Global initiatives which included; Defining the Global Support Model, eMail Transition to a hosted solution, Interactive Communications, multiple Infrastructure Security Assessments and Active Directory Redesign to name a few.   

 

In 2012 Mona led the development and delivery efforts of a mobile application for Verizon Business that was designed to deliver a Customer Loyalty application using the Agile methodology.  The project entailed coordination and management of all Marketing aspects from storyboarding to the Partnerships with major retail entities such as Starbucks and a number of global hotel chains. 

The working prototype defined the eco system for the consumer loyalty program and the parameters around individual identity as well as historical purchasing and patterns of preferences.  Predictive analytics was also heavily emphasized as a means of engagement with the individual clients for use by Best Buy.   The working prototype was created and delivered on time and within budget in record time and the initiative was adopted by Verizon Business as a strategic product line.  

 

Prior to joining AES she worked at SAIC where she led the deployment efforts of the Project Management Office (PMO) and its associated practices and tools which included the Enterprise Project Management (EPM) solutions utilizing MS Project Server at various client sites which included Pfizer and Allergan Pharmaceuticals to name a few.   As the subject matter expert, Mona evaluated upcoming MS Project Server and SharePoint product releases and planed the associated migrations.   She also lead the efforts for product integration at various client sites into existing suites of tools to achieve maximum utilization and minimize process and technical conflicts with the tool.   She provided product overview presentations and demonstrations to potential clients and conducted comparative studies against comparable tools to identify advantages and disadvantages of the various products being considered.

 

Earlier Mona had directed all IT related activities at the Refugee Processing Center on a Department of State contract.  She managed all aspects of the full software lifecycle, from Software Design, Development, Data Engineering, Testing, and Deployment; to the Systems Administration functions.  This case management system was maintained at all 10 international sites worldwide where refugee cases are initiated for processing and adjudication till entry to the US.   

 

Mona has a long history working in the Telecommunications industry with well over 20 years of software development and management experience.  She participated in the integration activities between MCI and Worldcom and delivered “leading edge” solutions of complex nature; such as, Automated Work Flows for provisioning, Customized Billing solutions to MCI’s top business clients and she also led MCI’s first entry into the Retail Order Management space with 1800-Music-Now and the Telecom sales at SAM’s clubs.  

In her early career, while working on an International contract for the Middle East she saw history in making;  during the early 80’s she began her career working on the development and launch of the first automated, fully Bilingual Civil Registration system for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

 

Mona is known to be an “out of the box” thinker who enjoys challenging opportunities and developing creative solutions.  She has a very positive outlook on life and after you meet her, you will always remember her smile, which is contagious.   She loves travelling internationally and maintains her Arabic linguistic abilities by travelling to her birth country of Egypt often.    She is an active member of the US-Egyptian and Coptic communities in Virginia where she lives with her family.
